Mix the sound
Levels, fades, ducking music under dialogue, cleaning voices and hitting a loudness target.

- Mostly free; Isolate Voice 3 credits
A clean mix makes generated footage feel finished. Most of it is free and takes a few minutes.
Organise the tracks
Use Add audio track to keep Music, Sound effects and Voiceover on separate tracks. In the Mixing Console (toolbar, or Alt+M) give each track a role: Voice (dialogue), Music, SFX.
Duck the music under dialogue
On the music track, turn on Duck in the Mixing Console (or right-click the track header → Duck under dialogue) and choose how far to drop it. The music now dips whenever someone speaks.
Shape each clip
Select a clip → Inspector → Audio: Volume, Pan, Fade In / Fade Out, Crossfade from previous clip, plus Noise reduction, Equalizer and Compressor. Short fades on every cut stop clicks.
Clean up voices
Isolate Voice (3 credits) strips background noise and music from speech. Fix dialogue corrects wrong words (see "Dialogue that lands").
Hit a loudness target
Loudness Normalization has presets for where the film is going:
| Preset | Target |
|---|---|
| Streaming | −14 LUFS |
| Podcast | −16 LUFS |
| Broadcast | −23 LUFS |
| Cinema | −24 LUFS |
Choose one and Normalize All Clips. The Broadcast figure is the EBU R 128 standard. Note that the Mixing Console's MASTER fader only changes how loud the preview plays, not the export.
